Aquatic Environment:
1.Foxnut plants grow in shallow ponds, wetlands, or stagnant water bodies. 2.They need clayey loam soil and warm temperatures.
Planting:
1.Seeds are sown in ponds in spring or early summer (around May in India). 2.The plant spreads across the water surface with large, thorny leaves.
Flowering & Seed Formation:
1.The plant produces purple flowers. 2.The seeds develop underwater in spiny fruits, which later sink to the bottom when mature.
Harvesting (After ~5–6 months):
1.Seeds are collected manually by diving into the pond. 2.This is labor-intensive and usually done by local farmers during August–October
