Cleaning & Sun-Drying:

Raw seeds are washed and cleaned thoroughly to remove mud and debris.
Seeds are sun-dried for several days to reduce moisture.

Roasting (Popping):

Seeds are roasted in hot sand at high temperatures (around 250–300°C).
During roasting, seeds pop like popcorn.
The popped outer shells are then cracked open to extract the white, edible foxnuts.

Polishing & Grading:

The final foxnuts are polished, graded based on size/quality, and packed for sale.

How to Convert Foxnut Seeds into Edible Foxnuts

Step 1: Collection of Seeds

Mature seeds are harvested from ponds after they sink to the bottom. These seeds are black and hard, about the size of small marbles.

Step 2: Washing & Sun-Drying

Seeds are thoroughly washed to remove mud and impurities. Then they’re sun-dried for several days to reduce moisture content.

Step 3: Roasting in Hot Sand

Seeds are roasted in hot sand (heated to ~250–300°C). This prepares the seed for popping and loosens the outer shell.

Step 4: Popping the Seeds

Each roasted seed is manually struck with a wooden hammer to crack open the hard shell. Inside is the white, fluffy foxnut (like popcorn).

Step 5: Cleaning & Polishing

The popped foxnuts are cleaned to remove any leftover shell bits, then polished to improve appearance and graded by size and quality.

Step 6: Packaging

Cleaned foxnuts are packed in moisture-proof bags to retain freshness.
